Italian Design Studio Presents Second Collaboration With Cantieri Navali Di Termoli
Italian design studio Piredda & Partners has unveiled a 38-metre yacht concept, the second designed in collaboration with Italian shipyard Cantieri Navali di Termoli by Italian Vessels. Known as Ombra, the yacht has been developed as a functional companion vessel designed to extend the operational capabilities of a primary yacht while maintaining a strong and distinctive design identity. The studio describes the vessel as purposeful yet contemporary, with proportions that exemplify the virtues of a true support vessel.

Constructed in steel and aluminium, Ombra offers generous deck capacity with ample space to carry tenders, toys, vehicles and specialist equipment. The design includes alternative configurations that further expand the vessel’s capabilities, including a version with a certified helipad. This flexibility reflects the modern owner’s desire for a support yacht that can adapt to various operational requirements and expedition scenarios. Onboard, the main deck is bright and clean, featuring a neutral colour palette that creates a comfortable, inviting main salon. A generously sized family kitchen sits forward, well stocked with amenities including two fridges and a freezer with an ice maker. A central feature of this yacht is the briefing room on the main deck, fitted with a large TV screen to display expedition itineraries and a spacious 12-seater conference-style table. Completing the space are two vintage nautical maps that reinforce the vessel’s expedition-ready character.

Accommodation aboard Ombra can comfortably house up to 12 guests across nine cabins, including an owner’s cabin and a VIP cabin on the lower deck. Up to six crew members can stay in three dedicated cabins, ensuring the vessel operates efficiently while maintaining guest comfort and privacy. This configuration reflects the growing demand for support yachts that can serve as both operational platforms and comfortable floating residences for extended voyages.

According to Piredda & Partners, the model is ready to build, with delivery available in 2029. The studio recently unveiled a 41-metre concept called Nexus, a semi-custom model conceived for modern owners seeking comfortable living, functional spaces and enjoyment of life at sea. Both projects demonstrate the studio’s commitment to developing innovative support vessel designs that balance aesthetic appeal with practical functionality, positioning Italian shipbuilding as a leader in this growing market segment.
