The Custom Superyacht Completes Sea Trials Following June Launch In Amsterdam
The 89.6-metre Feadship new build superyacht Project 828, also known as Milky Way, has departed the shipyard and arrived in Poole, the UK. The delivery follows her launch at her outfitting facility in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, in June before she was spotted on sea trials shortly afterwards. This milestone marks the completion of a highly collaborative custom build that reflects the private client’s vision for a flexible, multi-use vessel designed to support both active living and relaxation. Following her launch, Feadship shared that the secretive yacht originated from a private client’s design brief seeking a “highly flexible, multi-use onboard environment that supports active living and relaxation”. The result is a vertical, long bow, greater volume aft and straight, trim lines penned by Studio De Voogt, all drawn to optimise exterior deck spaces. This includes on the main deck, where lies a pool—at 16.7 metres long and three metres wide—which was previously described by the builder as a “true centrepiece”.
Lead designer at Studio De Voogt, Matt Bacon, explained the design philosophy: “We refined the language with a very strong vertical bow and an emphasis on the long structural lines of the decks. The mast has a very strong character to balance the volumes of the superstructure.” The exterior styling takes cues from Feadship’s forward-looking design philosophies, creating a vessel that balances aesthetic refinement with functional performance. Details, features and amenities of Project 828 remain undisclosed, though British design firm RWD has been unveiled as the team behind the yacht’s interior guest and owner spaces. Her onboard styling is said to incorporate soft, flowing lines for a cohesive spatial experience and a generous, “free-flowing” circulation throughout.
Senior associate designer at RWD, David Waite-Wright, commented: “From the earliest concept sketches to the very last detail, bringing this project together has been a genuine pleasure. Our partnership with Feadship is rooted in experience, expertise and deep trust, a foundation that allows us to refine and evolve each project further with every collaboration.” Sales director Maarten Jansen also reflected on the delivery: “This project reflects an intimately close collaboration between the private client and the unified project team. The client had a precise vision for a unique, full custom Feadship, and we are extremely proud of the result.”
Known specifications include a full-displacement steel hull, a volume of 2,623GT, a beam of 13.6 metres and a loaded draught of 3.7 metres. The yacht represents the latest addition to Feadship’s portfolio of contemporary superyachts, each tailored to the exacting standards of discerning owners seeking bespoke maritime experiences.
The news comes during a very busy summer season for Feadship, which has 16 superyacht projects under construction according to BOATPro. This includes the 80-metre superyacht Project 826, also known as Project Thalassa, which is in its final stages of construction, including sea trials, with delivery also expected this month.
