Columbus Yachts Unveils 42m Explorer M/Y Big Naan
Columbus Yachts has formally introduced the 42-meter Crossover model M/Y Big Naan at its facility in Savona, Italy. Designed for an American client, this steel-hulled yacht with an aluminum superstructure was crafted under the guidance of the owner’s representative, Trevor van Wyk, with the brokerage process overseen by Zarpo Yachts.

Design and Arrangement
Conceptualized by Hydro Tec with interior design by Hot Lab, the Crossover 42 showcases a bulbous bow and a sharp superstructure, typical of explorer yachts. It accommodates 11 guests across four cabins on the lower deck and a spacious master suite on the main deck. This master suite features a central bed, office area, walk-in closet, and a bathroom complete with a separate shower. The crew quarters are designed to house up to nine crew members.
Deck Amenities and Performance
The aft deck combines leisure and functional uses, comprising a 17-square-meter swimming pool and a tender storage area equipped with a built-in crane. The lower deck beach club has a hydraulic door and is illuminated with natural light from side windows and a glass-bottom pool. Power is supplied by dual Caterpillar C32 ACERT engines, allowing for a maximum speed of 14 knots and a cruising range of over 5,500 nautical miles at a speed of 10 knots.

Technical Details and Onboard Technologies
The yacht is equipped with dual stabilizers for performance both underway and at anchor, two watermakers that together produce 8.6 cubic meters daily, and a fuel capacity of 60 cubic meters. The interior materials focus on natural finishes and functional layouts, ideal for long-distance cruising.
Production and Fleet Development
M/Y Big Naan comes after the 2023 launch of the first Crossover 42, M/Y Dragon, enhancing Columbus Yachts’ explorer lineup. The shipyard has four more projects currently in progress at Savona, including a Crossover 47 due for 2027 and two ISA Gran Turismo 45 Alloy yachts, to be completed at the Ancona facility. Construction time and pricing for Big Naan remain confidential, and the yacht will undergo sea trials before delivery.
